I can see that right now synonym and variations are only available through API. Will this change? I am desperate to set my own!
Shani Cipro You can edit them freely. The API's are all free as well unless you just want to use paid version as well.
I will will continue to improve the plugin, so please share your ideas here (I know you've mentioned this one before). If you have actual examples of what you're wanting I welcome screenshots and videos too so I can make I'm understanding how/what you want.
Jeff Brigman I'm making terms from scratch rather than importing them, so I need to be able to create them from scratch!
Right now, I'm using CM Tooltip Glossary, and it lets me add my own synonyms and variations (synonyms show up in the glossary archive while variations don't; they're more for like different tenses and plural vs singular).
Since I'm making my own terms for a very specific niche (students of literature and linguistics), there's not anything quite like what I'm doing that I'd be able to use as an API as I'm using linguistics terms that aren't really explored properly or appropriately in normal dictionaries. So I'd like to be able tolist my own terms!
Shani Cipro Gotcha, like tags.... or at least that's how they've incorporated them. I will add them to next update which will be a few days to allow for feedback to come in.
Shani Cipro thinking more on it, that's actually something I want to expand. Instead of just basic synonym text fields, I want Clever Linked Terms to support intelligent term relationships like synonyms, abbreviations, aliases, and related terms that all connect together automatically for linking, tooltips, analytics, and glossary pages. Basically making it much smarter and more flexible than traditional glossary plugins.
So I could do a quick release adding the way they do it or I can take a few extra days and really make it 100% better..... so I will make it better. I want to set a solid foundation that will allow this plugin to grow bigger and better than others out there. So what you'll see is incremental improvements that culminate to an amazing glossary engine.

I’m already working on it and may have the early version released soon as I found an analytics issue with fcom not properly tracking. I have that fixed already and need to update sooner than I had planned.
I have only one suggestion...whatever yo do, Jeff Brigman please ensure that the plugin is lightweight and doesn't by any means impact the performance of your site. I would like to give example of Gamipress which has not been used by as many people as it deserved despite being in the industry for such a long time, simply because the plugin is not lightweight and has a negative impact on site performance.
There are almost a million of elearning wordpress sites. E-Learning sites need gamification for engagement, but due to the poor performance of the Gamipress plugin, it has been only installed on around 10000 sites, despite being in the wordpress repo for so so many years.
Arjun Paudel absolutely. During this process I noticed a lot of double standards for plugins and developers. I also noticed that they don’t hold the same standard for everyone and once you get a plugin approved, they don’t really require you to maintain their standards. So all sorts of junk gets thrown in later on that affects performance, security and more.
