Write-Through Cache

3 tags 1 category

A write-through cache synchronously sends an update to its backing store as part of the write path. The operation normally reports success only after the required cache and storage updates have completed according to the implementation’s contract.

This can simplify read-after-write behavior while increasing write latency. Atomicity across the cache and backing store is not automatic, so error handling must address a failure in either component.
