WordPress Filter Hook

A filter hook lets callbacks transform a value as it passes through WordPress or a plugin. Each callback receives the current value and returns the value that the next callback should receive. Priority controls execution order. Returning the expected type matters because a missing return or unrelated side effect can break every later consumer of the filtered value.
