Strict Serializability

3 tags 1 category

Strict serializability combines serializable transactions with real-time ordering. Transactions appear to run one at a time, and a transaction that begins after another completes must appear later in that serial order.

This is useful when a transaction reads and updates several records whose relationships must remain valid across clients. Providing the guarantee can require coordination, which affects availability and latency when replicas cannot communicate reliably.
