Stream Watermark

3 tags 1 category

A stream watermark communicates an estimate or policy boundary for progress through event time. A processor can use it to decide when an event-time window is ready to produce results.

It is not necessarily proof that no older event can ever arrive, so late-data handling remains important. When a job combines several input partitions, one slow or idle input can affect how its effective watermark advances.
