A REST API exposes resources through an interface guided by representational state transfer constraints, including stateless communication and a uniform interface. Web implementations commonly use HTTP methods to retrieve or change resource representations. REST is an architectural style, so an API is not RESTful merely because it uses JSON. WordPress provides its own REST API for content and integrations.
