A permalink is the URL intended to identify a specific piece of content consistently. WordPress constructs it from the site’s permalink structure and the relevant content information. Slug or structure changes can alter existing URLs, so use appropriate redirects when changing published resources. Internal links and canonical metadata should point to the intended current URL for that content.
