Observed-Remove Set

3 tags 1 category

An observed-remove set records additions with distinct identities and removes the additions a replica has actually observed. A concurrent unseen addition can therefore survive a removal of the same visible element.

This behavior is often described as add-wins semantics for concurrent add and remove operations. Metadata management is part of the design because implementations must track enough identity or causal information to merge safely without retaining unlimited history.
