Monotonic Writes

3 tags 1 category

Monotonic writes ensure that writes from one participant are applied in that participant’s intended order. If a client creates a record and then updates it, replicas must not apply the update as though it came before creation.

Tracking a session’s write dependencies is one way to enforce this. The guarantee orders one participant’s writes but does not establish a universal real-time order for all writers.
