Monotonic Reads

3 tags 1 category

Monotonic reads prevent a client from moving backward through the versions of an object it has already observed. Once a session sees a newer revision, a later read must not return an older revision simply because it reaches a lagging replica.

The guarantee helps avoid confusing changes in dashboards and account pages. It does not necessarily make each response the newest version available anywhere in the system.
