Linearizability

1 category
Linearizability makes each operation on a shared object appear to take effect at one instant between its invocation and completion. The resulting order must respect real time: a read that starts after a completed write cannot behave as though that write never happened.
This matters for operations such as claiming a unique job. It is a guarantee about observable behavior, not a requirement to execute every operation on one server.
