Last-Writer-Wins Register
3 tags
1 category
A last-writer-wins register resolves competing values using an agreed total ordering of writes, commonly timestamps plus a deterministic tie-breaker. Replicas that receive the same candidates can choose the same winning value.
The selected winner is last under that ordering and may not reflect actual real-time order when clocks differ. Concurrent values can be discarded, making this policy inappropriate when the application must preserve every edit for review or merging.
