Idempotency Key

1 category
An idempotency key identifies an intended operation so repeated requests can reuse its outcome instead of performing it again. A client can submit the same key when a network timeout leaves it unsure whether the first request succeeded.
The server must bind the key to the appropriate request and retain its result or receipt for a defined period. Reusing one key for different intended operations should be rejected or handled explicitly.
