Conflict-Free Replicated Data Type

3 tags 1 category

A conflict-free replicated data type is designed so independently applied updates can converge under specified merge or operation-delivery rules. Some forms merge replica states, while others exchange operations with required delivery properties.

Counters and sets can support useful concurrent updates without resolving every change through a central coordinator. The type’s semantics still matter: convergence alone does not preserve arbitrary business invariants, such as a globally enforced inventory limit.
