Checkpoint Barrier

3 tags 1 category

A checkpoint barrier marks a position in a stream used to coordinate a consistent checkpoint across processing operators. An operator records relevant state when the barrier reaches it according to the framework’s alignment rules.

Recovery can then restore state and replay input from compatible positions. Multiple-input operators need special handling so records from different sides of the checkpoint are not mixed incorrectly, and alignment can affect latency under backpressure.
