Bounded Staleness

1 category
Bounded staleness allows reads to return older data within a specified limit, such as a maximum time lag or revision distance. An analytics page might accept a result a few seconds old to serve reads near the user instead of contacting a distant leader.
The bound must be stated precisely because time-based and version-based limits mean different things. A system may need to wait or reject a read when it cannot meet the bound.
