Advisory Lock

3 tags 1 category

An advisory lock is a lock applications explicitly request using an agreed resource identifier. The database does not automatically require other code to acquire it before accessing the corresponding business data.

Import workers can use the same named lock to prevent two batches from operating on one job at once. The design must define ownership, release behavior, and connection lifetime, and every participating code path must follow the same locking convention.
